I'm in recovery from illness since late feb and hopefully I should be 100% by end of July. I'd never set out to be a fighter! But... I did set out to try different things at the age of 36years.. BJJ, White Collar Boxing, Chessboxing, Muay Thai, MMA and a body building comp! This was my initial To Do list before I was 40. (Just ...to have a go at one of each)
I really was pleased to be I selected for the Fighter Source MMA Team GB but unfortunately I've not been able to train for the events(I think they are on hold anyway) after a few scares in the last month I've kind of changed my way of thinking about life. At the start of my illness I got stressed as I was thinking about how other people would see me if I didn't fight again!... I certainly learnt a very big lesson regarding the fight scene, and who is truly looking out for you as a person, not just a fighter who will provide entertainment for a show... The "Pink Machine" was always trying to inspire people about fitness, building confidence and challenging oneself, not just about being a fighter! .. Understanding that training is not easy what ever your sport! Changing your eating habits is not easy what ever your size and weight! ... Last but not least, it does not matter about how old you are! If you want to have a go then DO IT! Don't let other people stop you! Watch this Space!
